Reclaiming Recess
I don't know how it happened but June somehow got highjacked from my calendar! I looked away for a minute (went on a Speaker's retreat) and when I turned back around June was gone.
Well, here we are in July, already halfway through the year. How is your year going so far? Are there any adjustments you would like to make? How would you like to design the next half of 2022?
One thing I have decided, as I look at the next half of the year, is that I want a life that is more balanced. I realized that I have been living to work instead of working to live. Finding work/life balance is often a juggling act as a business owner. I am so grateful that I love my work, yet I am aware that I now have to be more proactive to schedule in more opportunities to just enjoy life. I am committed to actually putting playtime into the schedule.
I forgot how important it is to have recess during the day. Did you ever notice that part of growing up meant that somewhere along the line we cancelled recess? I don't remember agreeing to that. What may have happened to me is that when I was working as a full time singer it often felt like recess. So there was no need to delineate between the two. I was traveling to beautiful places, meeting cool people and singing for joy. I don't know why when I became a business owner I thought those things should stop. Well, I now reclaim recess!!!! Who would like to join me???
I get to design my life and build playtime back into my work. I get to live a life that brings joy as well as success. Sometimes, I forget that I am created in the image of the Greatest Creator. Today, I invite you to remember that you are too. What are you going to create? How are you going to design the rest of the year? What dream are you going to reclaim for yourself that you may have inadvertently given up in the name of growing up?
And, remember, I am right here with you...reclaiming, creating and designing.
